Old Songs for Modern Folk presents eleven songs that address modern life, from police brutality “Michael Brown,” (an adaptation of the classic “Louis Collins” by Mississippi John Hurt), to the exploitive labor practices in Pakistan of “Garments of Shame”(based on September 11, 2012, killing of 257 people in Pakistan). The album also touches on the personal contemplations of immortality with "Ode to an Old Guitar," and "Alone" a challenge to loneliness in the big city.

Unlike my two previous releases, Home Away From Home (2008) and A Town Called Normal (2013), which were full band productions, this album is a completely solo affair. Each song was recorded straight to tape in one take, with no editing, overdubbing or enhancement. I created the album I wanted to hear, raw and honest. Instrumentation is either guitar or banjo, with harmonica on a few tracks.
